Ordinary Magic: Steal an Hour
***See A/N for info on the cover picture. It isn't mine!***
Despite my title, my position, my role in our realm, I do sometimes revert to using certain mundane phrases. Less frequently now than when I was first married, rarely out loud, and never around those whose misunderstanding of my meaning would truly cause problems.
This evening, I stole an hour.  The day’s duties were officially done, although a true monarch is never really finished. I watched my husband, my Goblin King, cuddle our baby.  There are some in positions of power who shunt their offspring to the fringes, seeing them only seldom, and initiating physical contact only when absolutely necessary, as for various Ceremonies.  I was pleased and surprised to learn very early in our parenthood that Jareth and I share the opinion that it is absolutely necessary to have lots of daily, affectionate, physical contact with each child, however many we have.
This evening, I stole an hour. I saw my lord walk all s

Iacon was beautiful once.
It was still beautiful, in a way. The skyline was beautiful on fire, all twisted metal, stretching upwards. The shining towers had been thrown down, the priceless knowledge of libraries battled over and ground into dust. Shards of memory crystal crunched under Air Raid's heel as he surveyed the city from his vantage point, atop the spires of a golden tower. His friend Jetfire stood next to him, melancholy.
They looked at the final hope of their people, at the Ark. It was immense, a starship built from ancient designs and fuelled by the last scraps of Energon they could scrape together. That golden mass of metal was the last way off Cybertron. The Core was shutting down, its life-giving flow of Energon receding. Optimus had told them all about it, said the planet would take millions of years to recover.
Below them, a street with a long-forgotten name echoed with gunfire. Decepticon forces were launching another assault. Air Raid
Secret Whispers: 1Chapter 1
There’s a wall built in the middle of a park that’s slowly crumbling into nothing. The bricks have faded in color and chunks of the wall continue to fall out every day. They have a man who cleans it up every day, around 4 o’clock on the dot. It isn’t that tall, or that long, but for a very long time it’s been sitting there.
A piece of art and history that the big guys never wanted to tear down, and in a sense, a piece of mystery. There was always a rumor that floated around the wall of twelve meters length and six feet high, that some old man put the wall here on purpose. They used to say that he put it right on a rift of time and space, on the night the moon was red.
Not many people believed it, but they recorded the very day it was built. That day, sixty years ago when it was built, was the same day of this year a group of hooligans decided to paint the wall in graffiti. That was the day a woman by the nickname of Fuu stumbled

Part One: The Ice Cream Thief

Emma Swan had always prided herself on her unique ability of self-restraint. Save for her youth and the mischievous escapades she had had with Neal, the woman had always been able to weather whatever storms life sent her way. But she found her patience was wearing thin as once again she returned home from a long day at the station, to find her carton of Rocky Road missing and not a single vanilla or strawberry confection to be found. It was the third time in the last month that someone had stolen her comfort food, and it was the last straw. Someone was going to die. That is, if she could ever catch them in the act. . .
Emma sighed as she left her apartment and headed back towards the Main Street of Storybrooke. If she couldn't get her daily treat at home, she would have it at Granny's.
Her pace was brisk as she walked, so fast in fact, that she entered the small diner

:thumb408587821: Teitho: 'Letters' - winnersOctober 25th 2013, Teitho headquarters
Dear Teitho author,
we would like to inform you about our new theme for November. Our new challenge is, as you can maybe guess, Letters, suggested by AmazingWriter123.
The cool thing about this theme is, that you can interpret it in any way you want - it can be a topic as well as a form challenge. You can write about letters sent and received, about the different alphabets of Middle-earth, but you can also write your story in the form of a letter, or even more letters exchanged between two persons.
Take a pen and paper, and start writing. How? Well, first you need to invent a letter system, and you have an alphabet. Middle-earth had several of those, reflecting Mr. Tolkien's linguistic hobby: the Elvish tengwar with their own history and variations, Dwarven runes... Learning to write them, using and interpreting them (or not), this is what your story or picture can be about.
Now put the letters into words and write down what you want

Discuss!

You talk too much!

Last month, in the excitement of getting my first issue of Fan-Fiction-Tastic News out, I forgot to add my discussion section. Whoops! ^^; Let's have a community discussion!

In my 'Update On Me' journal (fav.me/d6llsnh), I asked, "If you could only pass along one piece of advice to a new fan fiction writer, what would it be?" Here are your replies:

  • DecepticonFlamewar says, "If I could pass one thing onto new fanfic writers it would be "Figure out why you're doing this." A determined writer can accomplish anything they want as long as they understand what that is. If you just want to write wish fulfillment romance stories, that's fine. If you want to ask the hard questions of something you love, that's fine too. But you'll never be happy with any of it unless you can show yourself you're moving toward what you want. In the words of N Harmonia, "What are you striving for?""
  • Ezri-Krios says, "One piece of advice? - Write the fan fic story that YOU want to write."
  • LadyBrookeCelebwen says, "Don't listen to what the fandom says you should write, because then you're just going to be writing the same story over and over again, that other people in the fandom have already done. You need to write what you want, and somebody else in your fandom is going to find it and want to read it because it isn't the same old thing over and over again."
  • My advice: Never stop learning. Always strive for more. No matter how good you get, always push yourself to be better. If you stop learning, your literary skills stop growing. They'll become stale, and that will reflect in your work. Even if your not actively attending a class, or studying, you can learn by simply reading what others have done. What did they do that works? What didn't? How did that scene move you? Why? Could it have been more intense? How? Question these things. Learn to notice how other writers do their craft. It's a continuous process, but one well worth the effort.

New New discussion topic! In your home town, the forces of good and evil (be it superheroes, giant robots, or whatever) are waging a climatic, determine-the-fate-of-the-world battle. As you watch, a key artifact that grants untold power to whoever holds it lands at your feet. Whoever controls that device will win the battle. The fate of the world is at your feet. What do you do? :omfg: *Cue dramatic music*

Star!  Have any news, groups or contests you want me to feature? Comment below and I'll include it next month! :boogie:
